Crossover Musings

prairiedawn

Trying to decide whether I can sustain a YW/trek crossover retcon of ST V just on the basis of a deep desire to have Sybok yell “Fairest and Fallen, greetings and defiance!” at the God-creature.

@dduane did her own blink-and-you’ll-miss it ST/YW crossover in “Dark Mirror”, when the enhanced-dolphin navigator mentions The Song of the Twelve.

She likes these tiny cameos, which don’t usually have much effect on the plot but amuse those who notice them (it amuses me too, since usually she’s red-hot about me “not breaking the Fourth Wall”).

Anyway, there’s a Dr Who/ST crossover when Doctor # 4 (Tom Baker) pops up as a hologram image in “My Enemy, My Ally”, and a Dr Who/YW crossover when Doctor # 5 (Peter Davison) shows Dairine an escape route in “High Wizardry”.

I’d ask her if there are more that don’t leap to my mind, but she’s busy working on DAZ artwork for the recently-reverted “Feline Wizards” books and she’d shout at me if I interrupted.

Oddly enough, “Shatner’s Indulgence” AKA ST-V was on Sky last week and she watched it with a sort of horrified fascination. The first and previously only time we’d seen it was as an in-flight movie (leaving the cinema wasn’t an option) so rather than change channels we stuck with it, but haven’t watched it again until just now.

There were many comments afterwards the viewing, but D’s main one was: “That movie made my brains hurt.”

Watching ‘Paradise Lost’ and can’t help but be amused by background Julian.

I don’t think Julian really likes Worf at all? Like, I think he supports Jadzia in whatever makes her happy but after Risa, he really stops trying to be friendly to Worf and I feel like it’s because he saw Worf literally endanger an entire planet because he was a bad bf and yet Julian doesn’t file a complaint or anything because he is Jadzia’s friend and he wouldn’t do anything to upset her.

I like Worf but I also think he pulls A LOT of shit on DS9 that would piss Julian off (punches Julian and the two of them plus Miles end up in a cell (it was an accident but seriously, he went to punch Miles and that is not cool), fights with Jadzia constsntly and implies she’s a slut a lot, an absent fathet to Alexander which would definitely bother Julian, and not to mention I doubt Julian will ever forgive Worf for that “Klingon Bachelor Party”) but Julian won’t voice his issues because Jadzia loves Worf and also Julian’s history of pursuing Jadzia might make people think he is just jealous.

Salty liquorice, also known as salmiak or salmiakki (in Finland), is a variety of liquorice flavoured with ammonium chloride, common in the Nordic countries, the Netherlands, and northern Germany.[1] Ammonium chloride gives salty liquorice an astringent, salty taste[2] (hence the name), which has been described as “tongue-numbing”[3] and “almost-stinging”.[1] Salty liquorice is an acquired taste[1] and people not familiar with ammonium chloride might find the taste physically overwhelming and unlikeable.[4][1]”

Polly felt questing eyes boring into her. She was embarrassed, of course. But not for the obvious reason. It was for the other one, the little lesson that life sometimes rams home with a stick: you are not the only one watching the world. Other people are people; while you watch them they watch you, and they think about you while you think about them. the world isn’t just about you
