Here is where I’m listing paintings I have for sale from the stash I’ve accumulated in my apartment over the years! If you have wanted a Banshee or or some of my more well-known DS9 content, here it is! There’s also some Babylon 5.
There’s a link in my sidebar to other paintings for sale, but this is a collection of just the new things that have been added!
All prices listed in US dollars, shipping costs the same for US and Canada. Ask me if you want to ship elsewhere!
Other paintings for sale can be found here! I’ll eventually consolidate these, but for now, this other lists also contains some of my old Star Trek stuff and B5 stuff!
Send me an ask or an email (ladyyatexel at gmail!) if interested in anything!
These are the Monster High repaints I currently have for sale! Almost all are thrift store rescue guinea pigs who may have some defects that I’ve done my best to detail here. They have all been washed, wiped, and repainted with pastels, Prismacolor watercolor pencils, acrylic paints, and sealed with Mister Super Clear and acrylic gloss for eyes and lips.
Prices, Descriptions and links to other photos of particular dolls under the Read More~
Obviously the world has changed dramatically since you were shooting this film. I can’t imagine you could anticipate the way those themes would resonate …
I did. And the reason why is that I’m Mexican. I’ve been going through immigration all my life, and I’ve been stopped for traffic violations by cops and they get much more curious about me than the regular guy. The moment they hear my accent, things get a little deeper.
I know it sounds kind of glib, but honestly, what we are living I saw brewing through the Obama era and the Clinton era. It was there. The fact that we got diagnosed with a tumor doesn’t mean the cancer started now.
Hopefully one of the things the movie shows is that from 1962 to now, we’ve taken baby steps — and a lot of them not everyone takes. The thing that is inherent in social control is fear. The way they control a population is by pointing at somebody else — whether they’re gay, Mexican, Jewish, black — and saying, “They are different than you. They’re the reason you’re in the shape you’re in. You’re not responsible.” And when they exonerate you through vilifying and demonizing someone else, they control you.
I think the movie says that there are so many more reasons to love than to hate. I know you sound a lot smarter when you’re skeptical and a cynic, but I don’t care.
But you’re not on a mission to change the way people see genre?
No, I can’t. I know that what I saw when I was a kid had redemptive powers. Some people find Jesus. I found Frankenstein. And the reason I’m alive and articulate and semi-sane is monsters. It’s not an affectation. It’s completely spiritually real to me. And I’m not going to change.
@aprilwitching uhhh have you seen this interview because dang
“some people find jesus. i found frankenstein.”
i… i have never had my me put into words so well. “and the reason i’m alive and articulate and semi-sane is monsters.” fuck. fuck fuck fuck. it me. it’s my heart and my soul and my me.
The idea of otherness being seen as the enemy.
i can’t brain rn but i know what he’s talking about.
yessssssss. i have so many feels about that + “i found frankenstein” but no words. i just. ::inarticulate yearning noise:: it’s the inside of me. i wish i had words.
Reblogging because I’m so happy people are reading this article. Its so present, and relevant and on point. Guillermo inexplicably ‘get’s me’ in a way I’ve never been able to articulate, and he’s talking about himself.
I’ve made Edgar’s Nessie shirt for Society6′s 25% Off Everything Sale today (September 10th - 11th, 2017)! Edgar’s is blue, but other colors and styles are available, plus you can also get it on mugs and other non-clothing items. Goes well with Nny’s ‘Not For Human Consumption’ shirt~

IDK if I’ve mentioned this before, but since there’s talk of how to approach an accurate/nuanced translation of the word “baka” in anime on my dash, I thought I’d share one of my other favorite bits of oft-overlooked translating-Japanese nuance and how it applies to Sailor Moon.
Basically every Sailor Moon fan knows Sailor Moon’s catchphrase, “tuski ni kawatte oshiokyo!” which translates more or less into “In the name of the moon, I’ll punish you!”
The fun part, that I learned a few years back from my half-Japanese friend who has, since high school, lived full time in Japan, is the “oshiokyo” bit.
Oshiokyo does, in a literal sense, mean “I’ll punish you”. It’s a perfectly fine translation. But what it doesn’t get across is that the main people who use the phrase are parents, especially mothers, and it’s primarily used against children.
There’s not a perfect English equivalent, but it carries a similar tone to “someone’s getting a spanking!” or “you’re going into time out!” or “you’re in big trouble, missy!”
Basically, it’s not particularly threatening, and anyone who would think it was would be pretty childish. The fact that Usagi uses it as a legitimate threat is adorable in how much is reveals her age. It’s also badass and kind of condescending in that she’s basically treating the villains as unruly children instead of legitimate threats.
So there you go. Take this information and put new joy into one of the most well-trod parts of the Sailor Moon universe.

those tails are LOOOOOONG. Like, almost twice the length of body long.
Yep! Unfortunately it’s hard to see because Cardassians are so bloody big I never have enough paper to draw a WHOLE Cardassian, but they all have really long tails! Even the shortest of Cardassian tails will still be the entire length of the body long. Usually it’s probably more like 1.2x-1.5x. Approaching 2x is something more common in Cardassians whose body type I’ve taken to describing as “noodles”, such as Dukat.
Their tails are very very important to them. They are prehensile, and whatever-the-word-for-dexterous-would-be-when-applied-to-tails. They are used for balance, when a Cardassian is bipedal - which, whilst not their natural locomotion, is still something they did even before they became space-faring. It just helped to free up the forelimbs so they could use those for other things. They are used for climbing and gripping - whilst much of Cardassia is desert, there are also caverns, jungles, mountains and volcanoes, etc, and Cardassians are from all these places. It’s also used for navigating, a Cardassian tail will always sweep the area behind it, and in this way they remain aware of their environment. Speaking of, it’s also used for attacking and defending. Swiping their tail alone would kill most things provided the Cardassian was sufficiently heavier than what they were attacking. If Tain smacked a human in the face with his tail, the damage from the scales and the force would be so great that it would be unlikely the human ever gets back up again. He couldn’t do that with his arms. And of course Cardassians have weaponised their tails, wearing their military stingers on the ends, which they can manipulate with extreme precision.
So Cardassians have long tails! In general, Cardassians are extremely long, you may have noticed that the distance between their forelimbs and hindlimbs is quite a bit bigger than you’d expect it to be if you were looking at a human. They’re long and flexible for wiggly climbing. But their tails are especially important. They have more power/muscle, dexeterity, and often precision, in their tails than they do all four of their legs.
A hatchlings tail is one of the areas that develops as quickly as possible. Their little weak legs can do little but carry the Cardassian even once they’re fully developed, but those tails are a huge part of how they will experience the world. Whilst their little talons cling to Bashir, they’ll be exploring the world around them with their tails, just like how a human baby might flail their hands around to touch things.
