Have A Writing Course!

Hey everybuddy!! Aunt Scripty here. I’m really excited to share this with you.

A few weeks ago I began offering a [free email course] to people who signed up for my email list.

It’s a free 14-day email course on how injuries work in stories,

from the beginning of the injury plot to the end.

Want to know the six phases of an injury plot? Got you covered.

Want to see what Stephen King does right – and what George Lucas does wrong with injuries? It’s in here.

Need to know how to make it relevant not just to the main plot, but to the underlying story, the character’s emotional journey? We’ll cover that too.

The course runs for two weeks, with an easy email every couple of days. I even have mini homework assignments to help you work through your own plots.

The course is called Maim Your Characters, and if you’re interested, I’d like you to [sign up here].

Some thoughts from previous course participants:

Reader Karen wrote,

I found the course to be excellent.  The information was useful, with well illustrated examples. The last email, discussing connect story to plot was particularly good tie together of why it all matters.

Reader Ella said,

Everything was very well explained, and the examples were very helpful. The examples worked because of how many there were too. … I liked that they were consistently looked at for each part as well, broken down to be better understood.

I loved [the course]. I felt more confident in my decisions because of it. I’ll definitely be telling my other writer friends to check it out.

And reader Mai Ly said:

I thought this course was very well executed! … It was in both parts fun and very informative! The fact that you walk people through the injury process is what I think is genius about your course, because it gives practical application to what you’re trying to teach.

I would definitely suggest this course to a friend who liked to write. I would tell them that not only would they be provided with examples… but that they would take information from this course and be able to apply it in the future.

I want to thank you so much for making this! I was able to learn so much and it has really made my writing better where it concerns injuries.

Why not give Maim Your Characters a try? Is free, you can unsubscribe any time, and you just might learn something.

Sign up link is [here]!

See you in the course!

xoxo, Aunt Scripty

I can’t get enough of this kind of design workshopping stuff. I tried designing flags before when I was playing NationStates, but I could never seem to produce any that I thought looked good. I think a few of these simple guidelines (limiting the size of the flag; sticking to simple colour sets) would have made the world of difference. And also, yeah… my city flag (and my provincial flag) are both seal-on-a-bedsheet operations, which is kind of embarrassing.

this is just so helpful and freeing to think about

doing the best you can AND trying to do better

taking care of yourself AND needing care from others too

this was such a revelation for me to discover and put into practice and - even beyond just helping myself - allowed me to be kinder and more generous with other people generally
