Leonard McCoy: patron saint of grumpybutts.
Our Leonard who art in sickbay
Hallow’d be thy Eyebrow
Thy nurses run
Thy physicals be done
On Earth as they are in this flying tin can
Give us this day our daily hypospray
And forgive us our away missions
As we forgive those who pull phasers against us
Lead us not into the transporter
But deliver us from Andorian shingles
For thine is the biobed, the quarantine and the Captain
Now and until the hull cracks and our blood boils in thirteen seconds
DAMMIT JIM.
Did you just call the Enterprise a flying tin can?

This is pretty neat - embroidery charts based on ancient designs as seen in museums.
Have you read the poems of a man, who is dead, called Gerard Hopkins? I liked them better than any poetry for ever so long; partly because they’re so difficult, but also because instead of writing mere rhythms and sense as most poets do, he makes a very strange jumble; so that what is apparently pure nonsense is at the same time very beautiful and not nonsense at all.

I was thinking that like a sense of aesthetics or ability to taste food, perhaps the Founders decided that telekinesis was a distraction and unnecessary for diplomacy. although seems like it would be useful to impress/terrify planets for the Dominion! the thought of weyoun or keevan with telekinesis is cracking me up though.
Yeah, I feel like unless there were some other downside it would surely be handy in *some* negotiations. (“These terms are… NOT AGREEABLE!” dramatic cross-room table flip, flare of blue psychic energy …all very showy. and wonderfully anime.) Guess the founders just really hate fun!
Also Re: that last part, YES SAME, and im absolutely going to ignore canon and put it in my eventual vorta baseball comic/weird imagedump/whatever it ends up being
Here’s an excellent Post-Canon DS9 story, one which takes a different tack than most Garashir. Instead of Bashir traveling to Cardassia, Garak travels to DS9. It’s not even to see his friend, although he’s happy to. From there they renew their… acquaintance… and find themselves tangled up in a murder plot. But who’s the target? And why? Fans of mystery/intrigue will enjoy. This also flows along nicely, rather like an episode.
Excerpt
They were both smiling by the time they reached the entrance to the infirmary.
“I won’t keep you any longer,” Garak said, obviously ready to take his leave. “It has been a pleasure to see you again.”
“You’re stuck here for at least another 24 hours,” Bashir reminded him. “Longer if I choose. Don’t think you can come all this way and deprive me of your company for one more meal.”
“I wouldn’t dream of depriving you of anything, Doctor.”
Bashir had to fight to keep his reaction to that from showing on his face. “Dinner tonight?”
“Of course.” Garak paused. “Will Lieutenant Dax be joining us this evening?”
Bashir leaned in a little, lowering his voice. “Lieutenant Dax,” he explained softly, “hasn’t been on Deep Space Nine for many months now. So…no…she shan’t be joining us.”
Even Bashir couldn’t miss the speculative expression of Garak’s face for that one, unguarded moment. “Until this evening, then.”
Nothing had sounded so promising to Bashir in a very long time.
