Not to steal any thunder from William Shatner (if that’s even possible) but today is also Michael Westmore’s birthday! (March 22, 1938.) Westmore did original makeups for almost every Star Trek series and has won nine Emmys.

Red Tegu Lizard named MacGyver. Male Tegu apparently grow those jowls. I think it makes them look like they swallowed a hamburger whole.
Tegu are apparently some of the smartest and most sociable lizards. They recognize their owners, can be trained to some degree and show affection.

Yeah, his jowls are huge. This isn’t forced perspective, this is just an unhealthy animal in poor body condition. Male tegus do grow jowls but they should not be that big. I talk about this from time to time- you can see those posts here. Warning for some gory images- there’s a dissection of a male tegu in there that helps illustrate what an appropriately-sized jowl should look like.
