“The denarius of Brutus commemorating the assassination of Caesar is one
of the very few coins to be described in the ancient
literature. Cassius Dio relates that “Brutus stamped upon the coins
which were being minted his own likeness and a cap and two daggers, indicating by this and by the inscription that he and Cassius had
liberated the fatherland” (Roman
History, XLVII.25.3). Minted in 42 BC, while Brutus
and his fellow conspirators were on the march in northern Greece, the
coin type was recalled by the victorious Mark Antony and Octavian
and melted down. Approximately seventy-five examples are known to
exist, from 7 obverse and 25 reverse dies (8 obverse and 26 reverse dies
also have been cited). In 2008, the finest example sold at auction for
350,000 Swiss francs (approximately $335,000); in 2011, another
coin struck slightly off center realized $546,250, a record for a
silver Roman coin. The coin pictured above, which shows some porosity,
sold for $97,500.

After last week’s fun with that video, I went and looked through my unfinished Deep Dish Nine folder to see if there was anything I could finish quickly. There doesn’t seem to be anything I can just patch once and ship out the door, but I do have some snips and bits you guys might like to see from an ill-fated adventure in which Julian takes a bunch of his friends to the mall to help him find a gift for Garak. They text him to send him ideas.
It’s largely a disaster.
I was looking for something else and found this. It might be new to you if you’ve hopped aboard the DD9 train since last February. One day I’ll finish my oceans of unpublished DD9 stuff. One glorious day.
After that last DD9 comic, naturally I had to draw something to cheer myself up, yeah? (I … think we’ll be back to your regularly scheduled aliens after this, though. Probably.)
Inspired, of course, by @ladyyatexel’s AU Garak and Bashir, her versions of ~significant (human!)Cardassian hand-holding, and also rather directly by the first chapter of @tinsnip‘s can’t steal happiness (although I moved the interaction to Deep Dish Nine, mostly because I felt the need to put Julian in his uniform).
Both tuxedo Garak and Romulan Kirk are rewards in this event?!
fUCK
they fucking named him ‘Garak, Elim Garak’ to go along with ‘Bashir, Julian Bashir’ and he also has the Romantic trait like 'Obsidian Order Garak’, what is even just fucking kill me
