Some Belated Valentines 2k17 Highlights from Flower Land

- The giant Russian man who stormed through the door while we were quite busy and shouted “Whoooo is helping me? I need BEST FLOWERS in the WORLD because I have BEST WIFE!!”
- The old man who picked up his roses at 8 AM and when I said “I hope she likes them!” giggled and said “These oughta keep me outta the dog house for at least a week!”
- At 3 PM: “I need a delivery of tulips to the south side today.” “We aren’t doing any more deliveries to the south side today.” “I should tell you that this is on behalf of my client {Redacted Football Player} of The Bears and he is willing to pay literally anything.”
- “Hey, boss, I have an order from FootballPlayer of The Bears and he is willing to pay literally anything.” “Don’t you mean FootballPlayer of The Bears FOR NOW?”
-“Okay tell him we’ll do it but he has to buy all our remaining tulips.”
- One guy wanted to buy a teddy bear holding a real rose so I made a teeny tiny rose bouquet for the bear to hold and it is easily the cutest thing I have ever made.
- This same guy grabbed a 55 dollar
arrangement from my table and brought it to me and said “Add flowers to this until it is 200 dollars.”
- Valentine’s Day makes some men crazy.
- When the last man came in to pick up his arrangement twenty minutes after we were supposed to close everyone who was working shouted his name in unison and it was Hilarious.
- All the parents sending flowers to their single professional daughters. Almost all of them made me teary. People from all over the country have daughters who live in Chicago and are single and they all wanted to send their single Chicago daughters flowers.
- “A man is calling and he says you are his best friend?” “What?” “He has an Eastern European accent?” “OH! It’s the man who has the best wife!”
- “I would like 100 roses.” “That will be 600 dollars.” “I would like 12 roses.”

I wanted to be Spike so bad. Outside of Jeff, those were my favorite scenes, working with Jim [Marsters], because he, like me, takes it so seriously, maybe even too seriously. That’s the kind of science fiction I like, and that’s what Joss does so well. It doesn’t matter how fantastical the scenario. It’s always grounded in, like, “You’re just a hurt nerd who can’t get a girl,” or, “You’re just an upset teenager who’s had too much.” [James] was so like that, and we both rarely got the chance to work together, but when we did, it felt really important. I remember one scene where he’s laying on a table and I’m trying to do something to him. And I’m standing and he’s laying on the table, and each time they yell “Action!” he would just go [Makes gasping noise.]. And then when it was over, he’d go, “Ah.” “What are you doing? Do you have indigestion?” And he’s like, “Vampires don’t breathe, mate.”

@nerdfishgirl sent me over as the Resident Star Trek Production Expert to inform you that Beltran was in fact Like That to fans and on set-but that is not the best of the Voyager Crew Shenanigans by FAR. You might already know this but it’s still my favorite story about Star Trek’s impact on society.

So, in 1999, Rick Berman (the sleeze that he is) decides that Voyager needs a “hot chick” and they hire Jeri Ryan to play Seven. Jeri Ryan at this time is still married to Jack Ryan, a politician in Illinois who was running for senate. Jeri Ryan does a little bit of Star Trek, and here enters the Space Lizard King (also referred to as “a Ferengi with sideburns”), Brannon Braga. He begins to have an affair with Jeri Ryan, which really freaks out Jack Ryan. (I can’t imagine why…)

Ryan decides to steal his wife back and instead of saying “Hey, why are you having an affair with your weird boss,” he takes her to a bunch of ultrakinky sex clubs in Europe. (What a romantic!) It’s Jeri’s turn to freak out, and she goes back to Brannon and files for divorce. They both decided to keep the proceedings closed for the sake of their careers, and Jack Ryan continues on with his life, rather bitterly, I would assume. Now, in 2004, Jack Ryan is back up for reelection (coincidentally, this is when Braga and Ryan stopped being an item.) He’s actually the favorite and people are whispering about a presidential campaign, but then the divorce records open up. Somebody leaks them to the press. This becomes a full blown scandal. Jack Ryan’s popularity PLUNGES. The next Republican nominee is a bit of an ignorant weirdo and gets crushed by the Democrat nominee.

After winning the senate, Barack Obama’s bid for the presidency is secured.

And that’s the best story I know about the Voyager shenanigans.

holy shit???? submission

You’re a charmer. Don’t worry; I reblog cat pics at all times, so that when things are bleak, I can hit up #cat therapy and things get better. Thanks for the kind words~ :)
