Biggest Plot Hole of Star Trek TOS

colonel-kira-nerys

The entire crew of the Enterprise listens to the voice of the ship’s computer at length every single day and at no point does Kirk or Spock or McCoy or ANYBODY turn to Christine Chapel and say, “Is that…you?”

thesassyfrontier

The entire crew of Enterprise D listens to the same voice and never once asks Deanna “is that… your mother?”

They all look like pizza delivery people.

And I love them so much.

AU Plot Bunny, where Sisko is the owner of a Pizza shop. His employees include a medical student, a guy who can fix about anything mechanical, the Dax sisters, a red head with a temper and her boyfriend who is better then a security camera, his son and a grumpy guy who listens to opera.  Next door is a bar owned by Quark, a man obsessed with money and his brother who is really only an owner because Quark’s mom made Quark add him to the lease.  Rom’s girlfriend works at the bar, but occasionally takes a shift at the pizzeria when someone is sick.

They have a few regulars, including a man who Julian, the medical student, swears works for the CIA and a creepy guy who likes to see how long it takes to get Kira to hit him over the head with a Pizza pan.

Waaaait a minute is this post the origin of deep dish nine?

Also “my card” “I’ll get you a spatula” I love this artwork and i love the idea of Garak presenting Julian with a business card, which is basically what he did but I mean actually in 20th/21st century terms ooooio

sherlocks-freebitch asked:

Did you ever watch the TNG episode "Birthright"? There is a huge amount of Bashir and Data being adorable. Julian is fanboying so hard.

wellntruly answered:

100% what??

Honestly, I have not been keeping anything from you guys — I have truly only watched the TNG episodes I have mentioned watching! Which is to say these, plus these, and now this, and nowest: BIRTHRIGHT, Parts 1 and 2

Would you like to know what happens in ‘Birthright’ here I’ll tell you:

Part 1

With the Enterprise docked at Deep Space 9 so Picard can attend some Bajoran aqueduct seminar, cocksure nerd Julian “Season 1” Bashir sneaks onboard to poke around their medical equipment and see if anyone tries to, [saucy look], stop him.

image

It goes better than he imagined.

image

Or than I imagined.

With a Synthetic Lifeform spot on his Bang Bingo he’s just been dying to fill, Bashir starts flirting about how “personable” Data is, before falling into dorky ecstasies over how his internal systems maintenance is designed to resemble breathing and a pulse. (Admittedly, I got superjazzy about that too.)

Staggeringly, Data then tells Julian the equivalent of “everyone’s always interested in my mind, but no one is interested in my body — until you.” Well my god.

image

Julian to himself: “steady Bashir, you just might land this plane”

But then it’s a thorough/thankful veer into the metaphysical, as a weird power surge zaps Data and drops us into an ANDROID DREAM SEQUENCE, scored with some sort of Trek Angelo Badalamenti riff, bless.

Meanwhile, with Worf, some watery-eyed alien tries to sell him the whereabouts of his father, who maybe isn’t dead (naw he’s still dead, I’ll just tell you now). Worf hauls off to a Romulan prison camp to get to the bottom of THIS, while wearing a very stealth all-black turtleneck & trousers ensemble that I am obsessed with.

Worf’s look would also be suitable for attending the opening of Data’s one-man art show, as after his Experience, Picard kindly suggests he ~look into himself for answers~, and Data takes that to mean speed-painting. What is important here is that I learn Data has a print of Johannes Vermeer’s Woman Holding a Balance hanging in his quarters. Later, I learn Data has a pet cat. This was a great episode for learning things about Data, and also whatever this is

I’m not even gonna.

MEANWHILE, WITH WORF:

Lol.

my favorite thing i’ve learned in college is that way back in ancient china there was this poet/philosopher guy who wrote this whole pretentious poem about how enlightened he was that was like “the eight winds cannot move me” blahblahblah and he was really proud of it so he sent it to his friend who lived across the lake and then his friend sends it back and just writes “FART” (or the ancient Chinese equivalent) on it and he was SO MAD he travels across the lake to chew his friend out and when he gets there his friend says “wow. the eight winds cannot move you, but one fart sends you across the lake”

i googled this bc i desperately wanted this to be real, and guess what…it is.

the dude’s name was su dongpo (also known as su shi). his original poem went like this:

稽首天中天,

毫光照大千,

八風吹不動,

端坐紫金蓮

(Humbly bowed my head below all skies
Minutest lights shine through my deepest bounds
Immovable by strong winds from eight sides
Upon purplish gold lotus I seated straightly by the low mound) (x)

on which his friend wrote “放屁” (fart, literally), and you know the rest.

(here’s a chinese source for the skeptics)

I gave my Beloved a copy of Mini Metro for Christmas and it’s been a popular game in the house ever since. The aesthetic design is wonderfully minimalist, and, having a shared interest in city planning and public transit, it scratches a certain itch even beyond it’s virtues as a puzzle game. The fact that the game coincidentally works so well as a simulation of actual metro planning adds a whole extra layer of satisfaction to a good run.
