give him treats! is the most best way to make him happy! can use treats to get a frog to trust a human, and get use to hand cuddle.
look at @stickyfrogs froggos, are good example of happy relaxed frog.
if you hug him or kiss him and he not comfortable, you just scare him, so that not good.

You can switch out his head and legs so he can be standing with a normal face but I have always had him doing the mind meld. And I now resume DS9-ness.
