ok someone who has been in the ds9 fandom longer than me seriously needs to explain to me what deep dish nine is. I get that it’s a pizza shop au, but there’s tons and tons of content from all different people about it rather than just like one fic.. so is it kinda like an au that lots of ds9 fans latched onto and it grew into like a sub-fandom of the ds9 fandom??

It’s sort of a collective AU that still goes around to this day, tons of people love it (me included, I wrote some DD9 fics too). It all started with this post here and everyone kind of loved the idea from the start. Dozens of headcanons came up in matter of days, but there are no real rules, except for two: everyone is human, everyone is alive.

There’s also the  Deep Dish Nine tumblr and the Deep Dish Nine archive if you want to know more. Also someone made a video about it a while ago:

Dd9 is one of my favorite things- one of the best AUs

More historical details and footnotes up later today when I have more time. The short version is: we know she existed, that she led forces against France, that she became a pirate, and that she was protected by England. The extent of her feats varies greatly based on the telling – estimates of the length of her career as pirate range between five months and thirteen years! – but whatever the heck she actually did left quite an impression.

And here’s a quick link to buy the book!
