Hello!

I’m Bethany, and I make Star Trek Costumes. I currently am opening up commissions for you to get your very own, reasonably priced, pretty darn accurate costume, custom made for your measurements! I have been sewing since I was 7 (which is like 2/3rds of my life), and I actually really like making the costumes (even if you’ll see me complain about the patterns from time to time), so I wanted to open up my experience to you guys! I also work out of Canada, so not only is the dollar so low right now, which makes it an awesome time for you guys to buy, but my shipping costs are also lower, even internationally!

FAQ

What’s the cost?
TOS Skants range around $150 CAD ($115 USD), plus the rank braid. I have to order the rank braid online, and as such, the cheapest while still accurate one I can find ranges from $10 USD to $30 USD. That being said, gold rick rack looks just as good, and is significantly cheaper! For the rest, send me an ask and I’ll give you an estimate! I’m happy to discuss it with you!

What about ____ costume?
I’m always ready to try something new! You’ll be completely involved in every step of the way in case you don’t like something, and we can fix it together. Even if it’s not Star Trek, which is honestly where most of my sewing experience comes from!
If you have any more questions, feel free to send me a message here, or check out my commissions page.

Whaaat? This also isn’t a regular episode of the podcast!?
Hugh talks to Mark Allen Shepherd, the actor who played the silent alien barfly Morn for all seven seasons of DS9; and Eve Gideon, one of the fans behind a gofundme campaign to make sure Morn’s chair at Quark’s Bar isn’t empty for Star Trek’s 50th anniversary celebration in Las Vegas. Mark discusses getting cast, the origins of the character, and how it feels to have portrayed such a cult favorite among fans.

If you want to get in under the wire, here’s the campaign to get Mark to Vegas!
