I was a Bajoran, although I always wanted to be Starfleet. At the end they let me wear the costume, but then I lost it! I got promoted, it’s still not meaningful to me (joking) - I wanted the Starfleet uniform. Rene would always say to me, “Nana, you know this isn’t really REAL, right?” The promotion was exciting for me, whenever I got to sit in the captain’s chair, it was like YES. Rene was always kind of perplexed by my lack of grounding in that field.
Elena Chernyshova - Days of Night - Nights of Day (2012-13)
Artist’s statement:
“Days of Night - Nights of Day is about the daily life of the inhabitants of Norilsk, a mining city northernmost of the polar circle with a population of more than 170 000.
The city, its mines and metallurgical factories were constructed by prisoners of the Gulag. With 60% of the present population involved in the industrial process, this documentary aims to investigate human adaptation to extreme climate, ecological disaster and isolation.
Norilsk is the 7th most polluted city in the world. The average temperature is -10C, reaching lows of -55C in winter, when for two months the city is plunged into polar night. The living conditions of the people of Norilsk are unique, making their plight incomparable.”
Studio Ghibli Pixel Dailies
by AlbertoV
I’ve been meaning to showcase Alberto’s Pixel Dailies for a long time now, which is how I eventually ended scrounging his DeviantArt to create my last Artist Feature. I decided to focus on his older works and save the Dailies for a separate feature.
Well, I was going to do that now, but I’m giving you an even more speacial treat. Last week the Pixel Dailies were Studio Ghibli based each day and as AlbertoV continues to attack every theme given to him, he ended up with an amazing series that is homage to everything Miyazaki.
Definitely follow AlbertoV on Twitter and DeviantArt.
Happy 90th Birthday to Mel Brooks! He is the man who broke Broadway records for most Tony Award wins with The Producers (an adaptation of his own movie); who satirized Westerns and racism in Blazing Saddles; and who poked fun at monster movies with Young Frankenstein – among many, many other things.
Here’s his most recent interview with Fresh Air.
Cat is very happy to see his owner after being 3 days alone.

Ootd to go see The Jungle Book in the theatre. I only have one leopard print item, so I decided to wear it. XD I wanted to go for a kind of “wild” animal-themed kind of look to match with the movie a little bit… In the end, I feel very 90s.

“We didn’t used to have all this ADHD and Autism and stuff” I think what you mean is that people used to go undiagnosed and get absolutely no help and were forced to suffer through their life because they had no support or understanding whatsoever but sure, Janice, pretend my generation invented Autism.
My grandfather was legit diagnosed with ADHD at the age of about 80 and he was like “OH”
“we didn’t used to have all this cancer and septicemia and stuff, people just randomly dropped dead because the gods were angry.”
schizophrenia is new, people used to just get actually attacked by real demons
I can’t believe liberal kids are like “if I can’t have Bernie I’m voting for Trump!”
How fucking far up your ass does your head have to be.
I can’t be kind about this. You’ve eaten all of the entitlement cake and shat out a doomsday.
Reblogging for the sentiment, but also for that perfectly stated last line.
