They may have been thinking of my Society6 and RedBubble stores, both of which have pretty skewed ideas about what an Extra Large is. (RedBubble thinks that means a US size 12 for fuck’s sake.) I’m an Extra Large or a 2X in more conventional standards of measure, depending on the items, so I can’t even wear the leggings I put my own work on.
So as much as I wish I were, I don’t think I’m really selling any plus size leggings. (Unless you mean having me attack a pair with some fabric paint and sci-fi stencils, which I’ve definitely done to some of my pairs.) I do OWN a lot of leggings, though. I have a legging Problem. They’ve come from a lot of sources, so we can have a brief Lady Talks About Leggings time!
I don’t know if you need advice on where to get them or how to wear them so I’m just going to do what I do best and talk too much about both! :D
Keep in mind that I’m an XL or 2X, so I can often just grab the largest sizes available in the ‘straight’ sizes section with no issues. I know a lot of people 3X and higher do not get that fortunate, so some of this may not apply for you! I’ll try to make a note if I can remember where they had larger sizes.
I most often wear leggings with long shirts, skirts, and dresses. I don’t really like the look of them as straight up pants, though some people roll with that, and the ones that just look like jeans make doing that slightly easier. There’s something about an exposed elastic waist band that I just can’t abide by though, and I’m not super jazzed about the shape of my stomach below my belly button, so Leggings As Pants is not for me. It may be for you, however!
There is a woman I work with who says things like ‘No, I’m too old and too fat to wear patterned leggings, but you always make it work.’ At which point I tell her ‘You are never too old to have fun.’ A lot of people seem to think that once you are plus size, you must never wear a pattern, only solid colors will effectively hide your shameful mass and to that I say Fuck You, I Love Patterns.

(the above pair are patterned cotton and were found by my mother at a J.C. Penney’s)
Anyone can rock patterns, though if you are not used to patterns, you probably will not want to do it quite to this extent. So if you get some fun leggings, get a solid or mostly-solid colored top to go with them, then you’ll feel more balanced. Don’t worry about what the leggings will ever match with - if all else fails, black and white shirts! - just get something you enjoy. Especially if you find it in your size, because legging makers hate plus size people and don’t want to give us anything but solid primary colors for the most part.
They are made in wide variety of fabrics - they make some lined with fleece for winter that are the greatest thing ever made, seriously look that shit up - so you might be best getting them in person if at all possible. For example, I have a pair that get really, really transparent when put on, and if I were a ‘leggings as pants’ lady, that would not be good and they would not work for me. You can get some made of really …workout-y? fabric, which is okay, but they’re weirdly limited to spring and fall. Too hot for early summer, too cold for winter. I find I like mostly cotton pairs the best. They breathe well and don’t get too hot or too cold depending on weather. Patterned cotton leggings are like the holy grail for me.
I mention all this ‘too hot’ and ‘summer’ nonsense because I don’t shave my legs and rather than endure all the irritation and itching I get from shaving OR the objecting and weird questions I’m likely to get from my government office job, I actually wear a lot of leggings throughout the year. Some people are also just not comfortable showing their legs but are sick of pants.
As far as where I get mine, I feel like you just have to have a constant background buzz in your mind for leggings, because they will turn up in weird places, and some not so weird.
Wal-Mart carries some very basic leggings in plus sizes and they’re cheap if you have no issues with Wal-Mart. If you just want to stock up on solid-colored no-nonsense leg coverings, this is probably a good bet. I’ve noticed the ones I have are a little thinner than my other pairs, but that’s actually worked out for me and they’re my go-to leggings for hiding my scandalous body hair decisions at work during the summer. You’re more likely to find things on the lower end of the size spectrum here, despite WalMart having a detectable plus section.
Target also carries leggings, though they do not specify plus size on their website. I have definitely picked up a pair from their juniors’ section that was a 2X, though, so they should have options, you just may have to get creative about where you look. If you have no issues rooting through the juniors stuff, you could do well here.
Department stores will often carry the lower end of the plus range, and usually in black, navy, grey, and brown. Head to their hosiery or intimates sections as they usually don’t stock them with the rest of the clothes. Though, again, sometimes you’ll find them with juniors. I once worked as a stock ninja at a Macy’s and we were rarely if ever allowed to do anything with tights and leggings - that all went to the special team who did hosiery. These basic blue ones came from a department store.
I got a very cute pair from Torrid back in the day that promptly developed holes in the thighs that I chased for several months with my sewing needle to no avail. I haven’t bought any tights from Torrid since, but they’ve probably improved since that pair? I probably bought them in 2009, so.
Rainbow is one of my favorite trash stores, and they generally have decent leggings. It’s a good place to get basic black and stuff that’s easy to replace since they’re 7 dollars and probably will not last that long.
A great place to check for leggings are discount places like Ross Dress For Less and TJ Maxx. They often have weird patterns that no one wants in sizes that didn’t sell - usually plus, because we’ve all been told we’re too big for patterns. I got this pair and this pair at TJ Maxx and Ross. The plaid-ish ones are cotton~~
I have not purchased anything from WeLoveColors yet, but DAMN I want to, and they go up to a 4X.
Lots of shoe stores sell leggings now, though they’re not usually carrying the largest sizes. If you’re in the same range I am, you might get lucky. I got a pair from a DSW once, but you can check all sorts of them.
You can sometimes find leggings in accessory shops. I’ve seen them in places like Claire’s and Icing on occasion, though they are rarely if ever in plus sizes. This is another place where I’ve benefited from dusting the high end of the ‘straight’ sizes on occasion.
There’s also OnlyLeggings.com, which I also have not ordered from but, I mean, clearly it’s an option.
OneStopPlus can hook you up with all sorts of things, you just have to wade through a lot of different styles and almost every item has a different shipping policy.
LuLaRoe leggings are obscenely soft and really fun if you are fortunate enough to find someone who sells the stuff. They just have sort of ‘regular’ and ‘curvy and tall’ for sizes. I fit just fine in the ‘curvy and tall’ leggings, but I suspect anyone much larger than a 3x would start to find them tight.
There’s also, as always, the wtfplus master post of places to buy shit that fits us, and I’m certain many of these places offer leggings, you’ll just have to do some digging!
I hope that this helped or was in any way what you wanted! I’m sorry to not be selling any directly, but hopefully this will start you off.
