The only thing you need to know about my trip:

I saw more cats during my week trip to Greece than I did during the rest of my life in France.

We saw the same on the island of Hydra (pronounced Eed-ra, not like the Marvel bad guys). They were probably strays, but in good shape; “communally owned” is a good description, because there were little platters of dry catfood and bowls of water all over the place.

They were also very good-mannered; not grabby or meowy, but they’d sit near people like us, eating on café terraces, and Look Cute. They scored a surprisingly high proportion on handouts that way… :-)

@librofiend sent me a link to some other photos of Greek cats (and dogs); here’s one of them, unconcerned about history except as a place to relax.

I was a bit like that in History at school, but then Metternich and the Congress of Vienna would put anyone to sleep…
