This rare footage of a gigantic sunfish was captured on film by photographer Miguel Pereira off the coast of Portugal.
“A few days before, my camera was damaged when the underwater housing flooded. The bad luck was compensated when diving with a GoPro I saw the giant Sunfish almost at surface level and practically static. The Sunfish seemed not to be bothered by our presence at all and followed us for 15 minutes.” -Miguel Pereira

mola mola/ocean sunfish is my favorite fish in the whole fucking ocean and it’s also the largest bony fish in existence and it’s basically like a huge-ass disk with some funny fins sticking out like it literally doesn’t have a tail and it’s mouth is just a constant o of minor surprise.
AND here’s the cool as fuck part: the mola mola eats jellyfish. It’s this super chill giant flesh disk that just chills out and eats jellyfish. That’s why it doesn’t have a long floopy tail like most fish, so it doesn’t get tangled up in asshole jellyfish. And that funny little o that is it’s mouth is so that it can just swim around vacuuming up jellyfish. Seriously this mother fucking fish is my favorite I have a tshirt and plushie because I am mola mola trash
