I live for Tom realizing the whole reason behind it. That scene in sickbay.
Has she fucked up insanely? Yes. But Tom, who has lived his whole life privileged as hell and has only had to pay penance for his own dumbassery, seeks to understand her. He comforts her when you outwardly think she has done the unthinkable. And has she? She has completely fucked up. But he doesn’t hold that against her. He gets to the core of the problem and works to rebuild from there.
My head cannon holds that Tom really spends the bit after that convo in sickbay having deep conversations with the Doctor and Janeway. Not to apologize for his wife, but to acknowledge they had a long journey ahead of them to understand one another and asking for their patience in that process.
Wow. I’m not usually much for Voyager, but I think I might need to watch this episode.
