The Tasselled Wobbegong is the greatest ambush hunter of all sharks. Its tasselled chin and intricately coloured skin allow this shark to perfectly blend into its surroundings.  It inhabits shallow coral reefs off northern Australia, New Guinea, and adjacent islands. The name “Wobbegong” means “shaggy beard”. These sharks have been seen ‘walking’ across one tide pool to another using their bottom fins to move themselves, as long as their gills are wet, they can survive the short trip.
