Hey all I’m actually coming to you with a smartphone (maybe it’s just iPhone?) app recommendation for a kinda old app. This goes out to all the people who get anxious when commissioning art!
The app is called “Let’s Create! Pottery HD”
There’s a “lite” free version and one-time fee version. Google it!
It’s basically a ceramicist simulator– you take commissions, you try to meet the customer’s needs, and you slowly gain more clients as the game goes on.
What I think is amazing about this game is the level of detail that went into the writing of the email correspondences you have with customers.
It’s so soothing and confidence-building because even if the piece of pottery you make misses the mark, the reaction from customers asking you to change things are super reasonable and back when I played the game like 5 or 7 years ago it really helped tamp down my nerves as an artist (back in the day I used to get super anxious because I was afraid of criticism)
Obviously in the real world things don’t always go so smoothly (clients aren’t always clear, responses aren’t always timed perfectly, payment issues), but this game I think helps you build an image of what commissioning is/should be, and helps you get used to the correspondence process without fear of screwing up.
