.Gul Lemec and Captain Edward Jellico meet in the Observation Lounge.
Star Trek The Next Generation - “Chain Of Command, Part I”

I’ve previously talked about the Cardassian Stinger, and it being a rare sight, but I sooorrrrt of take that back. The design of it is based on the Cardassian Union emblem and is similar to the tails on Galor-class ships (and others), so the symbol of a tail with a stinger on the end is hardly hidden in canon.

Instead, I’ve decided there are basically standard-issued military stingers, one of which is worn by Gul Lemec here. It doesn’t have the venom grooves and detachable quills that Garak’s stinger has, but that’s because Garak’s stinger is designed for his profession. This stinger is made up of two blades that can be flicked forward when in use to make a sort of trident shape. It’s a stabbing weapon only, and doesn’t contain venom. Like an Earth Bayonet, this military Stinger is a last-resort type weapon, not a replacement for Disruptors (The opposite is true for Obsidian Order operatives, for whom the venomous lethal stingers are their primary weapon. Energy weapons that leave a trace are a last resort.). Importantly, Lemec is not aiming it at Jellico, which would be interpreted as hostile. You can bet he’s essentially posturing though.

(Here’s how the scene looks in the show. No side-by-side this time, since it isn’t a direct redraw!)
