Plant of the Day
Thursday 22 June 2017

This half hardy annual plant was new to me and I discovered it growing at Cambridge Botanic Garden, UK. Cladanthus arabicus ‘Criss-Cross’ (Palm Spring’s daisy, golden crown) has a curious growth habit. A mound of pleasantly scented, feathery foliage is formed, bearing all summer long a profusion of large, fragrant, golden-yellow flowers. From around each of the first flowers (appearing in as little as six weeks from seed) appear four or five new stems each bearing a new flower and so growth continues… until the frost arrives.
