Kanar

I don’t know why, but I’ve always imagined kanar tastes like Jägermeister but not as sweet. Or maybe like gin with more anise. I don’t know, but “licorice” is definitely the flavor I associate with kanar.

For some reason, I imagine “licorice” but also a weird buttermilk taste and a thickness like watery kiefer. 

Basically kanar is awesome to Cardassians but absolutely dreadful to pretty much everyone else. (See also, the aliens from Alien Nation that get drunk on sour milk)

Oh, wow, I don’t think I’ve even THOUGHT about Alien Nation for at least a decade, and it’d been one of my favorite sci-fi shows.

Like, if you like world building? This. If you like conlang? This. If you like aliens with different genders & attitudes to sexuality? This. If you like differing biologies, such that the Tenctonese and Humans are often mildly repugnant to each other, and yet they still end up just kind of going, oh yeah, that’s Eileen Over, she’s a Tenct, don’t eat her donuts, they have gopher innards in them, like–

Everyone is just People, first and foremost. And the show flows from that. Racist people. Sexist people. Ageist people. Frightened people. Angry people. Loving people. Kind people. Curious people. Just People.

It’s So Good.
