asked:
So, Batman is Jewish, Dick is Romani...did you leave any fucking white people in Gotham?

You know, I could respond to this by explaining how it is, in fact, entirely in keeping with comics canon for Bruce to be Jewish, or at least have Jewish roots, given his maternal first cousin Kate is Jewish. Or by explaining that Knights, No Man’s Land, Grant Morrison’s Batman and Robin, and Nightwing Rebirth have all addressed Dick’s Romani heritage. I’m not saying you can’t ignore bits of canon - I do it all the time - but coming into my askbox and accusing me of making random changes is a bit much when it’s all rooted in the canon.

But, since you managed to piss me off with that incredibly irritating and ill-informed bit of phrasing…

Catwoman, going off her portrayal by the wonderful Eartha Kitt on the 1960s television show, is a black woman.

Two-Face, going off how he is portrayed by Billy Dee Williams in the 1989 film directed by Tim Burton (he didn’t become Two-Face, but he was playing Harvey Dent) is a black man.

Vicki Vale, going off her aunt Valerie in Gotham, is Korean.

Sarah Essen-Gordon is Latina, again taking after her Gotham depiction.

Doctor Hugo Strange is, once again borrowing from Gotham, Chinese.

Gotham Mayor Marion Grange is black.

All of these changes have their roots in previous Batman adaptations, and there will probably be more. And that’s just the ones in Gotham I’ve come up with so far from the official sources. Going purely off my own initiative, Jason Todd is probably at least part Latino and Tim Drake is biracial - Japanese and white. And that’s without going into all the characters who are canonically minorities in the comics.
