In “Looking for par’Mach in All the Wrong Places” they really missed an opportunity for Miles and Nerys to explore what their growing affection really was/meant… The writers missed an AMAZING opportunity to explore more complex, non-sexual relationships between men and women. When Odo asked Nerys, “What part of his family are you?” that should have opened a dog-gone dialogue, instead of making everyone feel awkward and weird.
Like… Come one. What their relationship became was something really special, only when they tried to define it in existing terms did it get uncomfortable, because, like it or not, those terms (sister, cousin, aunt, wife) coexist with certain behavior expectations, and what their relationship had become didn’t fall into any pre-existing relationship parameters…
