• some kind of shark: canicula (”little dog”)
• ostrich: struthiocamelus (”camel-sparrow”) (alternatively in greek, these are megalai strouthoi, “very big sparrows”)
  
• flamingo: phoenicopterus (”pink-feathered thing”)
  
• squirrel: sciurus (”shadow-tail”)
