(Extra points if someone whines to you “But the dictionary says it’s some kind of leg disorder…” You then get to lecture them on obstructions to the structure of higher-dimensional space and the Emperor Claudius. But seriously, if people won’t follow a coined word’s history back far enough to find out if there might be some reason there for the coinage, they need to be taught better.)  (See also the etymology of the word at this Biblical site, which for this entry at least stays out of the religious mode.)
