ugh it is not a cuttlefish it is just very young and therefore all round and tiny and has short arms also she is literally rearing them from eggs and researching them and giving them medical care and it is her job I suspect she doesn’t need their species mansplained.
1. It has two eyes, while squid have one.
2. It’s pupils are rectangular, a trait seen in cuttlefish while squid have round pupils.
3. Stop with the ‘mansplain’ shit, sexism isn’t a good look on you.

Oh hey, a real person, hi. :)
1. … no? Squid, like octopuses and cuttlefish, are beautifully symmetrical and have two eyes.
2. actually, I’d call cuttlefish pupils ‘kind of wiggly’ and squids’ circular to ovular, but in any case the angle is too high here to see anything but a dark line which could be anything imo
3. excuse you i look DELICIOUS in sexism
actually, i am guessing this is a bobtail squid but i am not an expert. so I shall stick with assuming the original tweeter is correct. and while @mettatagi herself (thanks for the profile pronouns, btw :)) may be excused the charge of mansplaining on the grounds of gender and of actually having good reasons for saying ‘cuttlefish’, my grumble was directed to the sheer number of people saying ‘this specialist clearly does not know what she is talking about’, rather than to any one individual.
either way it is an adorable brave rock. doing so well. good rock. :)
