Jeepers H. Christmas, you guys -
Julian Bashir spent a month in the Jem’Hadar prison camp with Enabran Tain before Garak showed up. It gets acknowledged in, like, one line: “From what I’ve seen of him in the last month, he doesn’t seem like the forgiving type.”
One month. (saving Julian’s solitary confinement)
I wonder what they talked about?
Tain would have recognized him. They would certainly have talked about Garak.
My mind is bubbling.
I can’t help thinking that Julian would have been pretty chilly toward Tain, along the lines of “What a lovely sentiment,” and probably not inclined to share much, unless it was directly in aid of their escape attempt. On the other hand, if Tain wanted to hear about Garak, for whatever reason, I’m sure he’d be able to provoke Julian into talking about him. I don’t think it would have been a pleasant conversation. Julian’s pretty good at being cagy when he needs to, so I don’t think he would have told Tain anything he thought Garak wouldn’t want him to know, regardless of the situation, but if Tain started running Garak down, he might have gotten emotional enough to rail a bit in his defense.
I could have that all wrong though, because Julian is the forgiving type after all, and it’s not like he knew at that point just how… personal …Tains’s mistreatment of Garak really was. There must have been some kind of ugly conversation though, for him to make the remark that he made to Garak. I suppose it might have been Tain going on about revenge upon the Dominion.
I wonder how Julian ended up in solitary confinement, and if it had anything to do with creating a diversion to keep Tain from getting caught doing his rewiring, or if it was for demanding to be allowed to treat injured prisoners, or what.
I’m babbling. Oops.
Oh, I am sure the conversation would have been absolutely icy - but can you imagine that moment when they recognized each other? “Ah. Doctor. How is our mutual friend?” “Garak is fine, thank you.” hissssssss~
It would have been a terrible conversation, a series of them, and you’re right, Tain would never reveal anything, and Julian would be so stalwart about it, and Tain makes you do it to yourself every time - by the end of it Julian would be falling all over himself to defend Garak, and you’re right, that’s how Tain would learn anything he wanted -
heeeeeee~
I need to go back and watch this again.
I also wonder how Julian ended up in solitary confinement.
We should find out!
