In terms of *texture*, there’s very little as satisfying as bread. You know? The ripping and the chewing and the lightness.

Or pasta, with the squishy and the filling–

Or rice, with the softness and the pleasure on the tongue and the stickiness–

Or bagels, which are better than bread because of the density of them, the saucy insouciant heft of them as you bite into them, how they resist just a little until you master them–
