How come no Northex? Where is Ex?

There is no Ex! And here’s why: Sussex isn’t Suss-ex, it’s Sus-sex, from (roughly) Suthseax, being the South Saxon colony/kingdom in Britain.

As for Northex, or Northsex, my best guess for why there isn’t one is that you had Wessex, Essex, Middlesex (which was part of Essex pretty much from the beginning), and Sussex, and most of the territory north of those four was held by Angles or Britons.

Fandoms collide: I recently realized that Joan/Sherlock and Bashir/Garak are actually the same relationship.

Bashir and Watson:

• Are really excellent doctors
• Have secret pasts that endanger their ability to practice medicine
• Love their parents, but have massive parental approval issues

• Have jobs full of danger and death and lies
• Are recovering addicts
• Live in a foreign place
• Are secretive about their pasts
• Sometimes tell emotional truths through lies
• Have cold, manipulative jerks for fathers
• Take delight in annoying their doctors
• Have artistic skills which seem ill-matched to their trade
