I mean we don’t KNOW that but he seems like a pretty simple dude, and I imagine a typical upbringing, going into the armed forces like a good son

Cardassia has been kind to him but she isn’t his religion like she is to Garak

So when he turns it’s not out of outraged piety

He’s just mad because this is bullshit

And honestly from a species as twisty as the Cardassians are usually shown to be

It’s kind of refreshing!
