if you want to know who you are, it’s important to know who you’ve been
As for Dax, I think she’s really a good mirror for Bashir. Everything that he’s gone through in his life has had some effect on his relationship with her[.] Although it started out with the possibility of Dax and Bashir having this wild, passionate affair, or at least a wild, passionate chase of an affair, it ended up not working out because of the very nature of my character. Again, this was probably due to the way I played him. I think they thought, ‘Wait a minute. We can’t make Dax fall in love with him. That will ruin her credibility,’ so, in the end, they just backed us off from each other and we became very close friends.
Since this has happened Bashir has grown immensely as a person and Dax almost shows twinges of jealousy whenever Julian gets involved with other women. I’ve got a sneaky suspicion that at some point payoffs are going to come and we’ll fall unexpectedly into each other’s arms. It won’t be for a while, though, because I think Bashir still has to go slay his dragon.
Oh my God, that is the saddest shit–
Speaking as the person who either is or befriends that person, I’m now a super Ezri fan without ever having met her.

You know that little gif of Alexander Siddig being manhandled by Avery Brooks? This is the documentary snippet that it’s from. About 6 minutes long. Extremely worth watching, not in the least for the creepiness that is Quark with normal Human teeth. Yeeeeergh.
mylittleredgirl replied to your chat “andy robinson: garak really needs a romance writers: stop giving…”
whaaaat garak/dax i had not considered this.
There was a post about it a while back. I guess the lines were eventually cut from the finished product, but here’s how a scene in “Civil Defense” originally went down:
GARAK If I were to input his code, the computer would scan my DNA pattern to determine if I really were Dukat. DAX But what if we disconnected the sensors in Ops... so that the computer couldn't scan you? Garak looks at her with sudden appreciation. GARAK What a creative idea. (a beat) Tell me, do you eat breakfast, Lieutenant? DAX Excuse me? GARAK My lunch calendar is full, but I am looking for someone to join me at breakfast. I'm sure the Doctor will tell you it's the most important meal of the day. KIRA This is no time to plan your social calendar. Can you rewrite your access code or not?
And Andy, apparently, played it to the hilt. He was apparently a bit saddened that the writers kind of looked at it and went yeahhhhh, no.
(How much do I love that little dig at Bashir, though? “I’m sure the Doctor would tell you it’s the most important meal of the day…” hee hee hee!)
Addendum–huh. “My lunch calendar is full.” So who does he have lunch with when he’s not having lunch with Bashir? Inquiring minds want to know!
