The Thousand Eyed God had been banned to the heavens three eternities ago. It is thanks to this eternal creature that wishes for nothing and only hungers and hunts that our reality is stable. We call it “The Observer Effect”.
The Observer Effect was first documented when scientists specializing both in quantum physics and sound engineering had an argument about the phrase “If a tree falls in the woods, and no one is there to hear it, does it make a noise?”. Miraculously, before the argument could devolve into petty insults about how grant money is wasted on one person or the other, they realized due to their training as quantum physicists they may be able to find some scientific evidence of multiple universes by applying the scientific method to this phrase. By a rather spectacular feat of quantum engineering that would simultaneously observe a tree falling while also not directly observing it or being there in any way, the scientists detected nothing out of the ordinary with the sound. A tree did, indeed, make a noise. However, while their quantum engineering technivally registered the sound of the tree falling, what was far more interesting were the briefest and most sudden slight shifts of the area–a precious infinitesimal segment of measurement where, as best as scientists could conclude, reality began to unravel at the seams. Gravity ceased to exist and the tiniest hole in the fabric of space-time was ripped open, creating a very small black hole which would still destroy most of the world anyway, and then was immediately seamed and healed.
This led to rather a lot of headlines and quite a bit of grants. The quantum sound engineer-physicists began the next step of the scientific process, to empirically prove and replicate the effect in a controlled environment.
And this in turn led to humanity’s first recorded contact with The All-Seer. A great, horrific beast, with a somewhat infinite amount of eyes that allowed excellent viewing of the entire multitude of realities. The All-Seer explained through the physicists-turned-vassal-prophets that it was sealed away between the veils of each reality, never to interact, merely to watch until the end of all things. When asked how it was created, the lead scientist who was once Kendra shrugged her shoulders in a way that dislocated them unintentionally. They hung from their sockets limply while she simply stated, “Why must something be created to exist?”
The Observer Effect, as it came to be known, was simple in its explanation: If a tree falls and no one is around to witness it, it will cause an instantaneous destabilization of reality, creating anything from a portal to other dimensions, time loops, assorted apocalyptic scenarios, a 24/7 american diner franchise that exists across every conceivable existence, and so on. Simply put, if something happens and nothing sees it happen, things go very very bad.
The All-Seer’s duty was to ensure that reality was warped as little as possible, and refused to elaborate on any questions as to why it was so important that every universe and timeline was stabilized if there are truly an infinite amount.

Chapter 5 is finally out.
On a street in former Cardassia Heights is a building housing apartments, and on the bottom floor shops. One of these shops is a pizza parlor called Deep Dish 9. This narrative is a chronicle of some of the happenings on that street, mostly centering around a new medical student to move in, and a tailor who has been there since before the Bajoran diaspora moved in. With marginal planning, and probably a whole heck of a lot of chapters planned this story will unfurl to tell some sort of stories about affection, romance, irresponsibility, smuggling, ducks, and plenty more.
In this chapter multiple people have conversations in multiple locations, and almost every single one of those people is a busybody.
