Trill Redesign

Tried coming up with a bit of a different design for the Trill.

I’m a sucker for things with four arms, so my Trill (hosts) are bipedal hexapods. Their legs have joints at the hip, knee, and ankle. The Trill ankle is located higher on the leg than the human ankle—it’s a bit like a dog. Though they have five fingered hands, Trill feet have only four long, two jointed toes. These are actually the second through fifth toes—the first toe has evolved into the Trill equivalent of a calcaneus and gives the Trill a similar rolling stride.

Other significant differences include the dual pupils, which allow light to enter into separate chambers of the eye. The Trills’ antennae plates are highly mobile, and house their tympanic organ and are used for nonverbal communication (kind of how humans move their hands when they speak). The hairs along the edge of the plates are chemoreceptive and attached to sensitive nerves withing the plate itself that can detect changes in air current and pressure. The plates themselves are covered in an iridescent chitinous shell. 

The average Trill male is around 5’10”, but the female is, on average, around 6’2”. You can see other dimorphic features there, some facial features, spot patterns, etc. Males usually have chunkier spots, but they’re highly variable.

Down at the bottom there are how I’d imagine Jadzia and Curzon Dax. I’ll probably paint an Ezri, sometime, too.
