Lady Yate-xel, I think you’re on to something. It is the slimy fetal thing that’s weirding me out. She’s kind of pink and icky. One or the other I can handle. Both is hard.

And I agree with you about her half-formed personality. She doesn’t seem to have an arc. She just kind of shows up, loves her dad, turns up on DS9, says things to people? because the plot requires her to? i guess? and then apparently soon she’s going to die? again because the plot requires her to? so someone else can grow as a character?

Not well handled, and this is on a show that treats even its minor characters like teeny tiny precious things (hi Brunt, hi Weyoun, hi Damar, hi Leeta, etc.), so it really does stand out.

The way Garak reacts to the kiss in this episode is interesting. He’s not quite expecting it, he definitely enjoys it, but his reaction isn’t passionate. When she pulls away and hugs him, he looks like he’s going to burst into tears. Is it being loved that he can’t handle? Is he worried that he’s going to go to the special hell because he’s so desperate for affection that he’s losing his ability to turn her down? How much has he told her about himself?

Wow, this is badly written. I do hope the meaning gets across.

(operating here on said apartments existing -GIVE ME THIS - and Cardassia being a ritzy neighborhood that used to include the building/block containing the apartments, shop and Quark’s.)

I was worried that the brotp might die in pizzaverse, because for some reason the age difference seems more pronounced… but you’ve made it work.

Some Orphan Time to balance out all this pizza, maybe?   Since last time was Mira, and I still don’t have a name for half the twins, this time it’s Tolan.   It’s small, but it’s a sketchy thing all around that I thought people might enjoy.  Assuming my orphan crew survived Pizzageddon. 

Unfortunately, it’s not super involved on Tolan’s part, since he’s kind of still in trama-baby mode, but it’s something.

“Does he look strange to you?”

Garak squints at Tolan. “Strange how? Has he been coughing again?”

“Not ‘ill’ strange, but just in general.”

“He looks the way you’d expect a hybrid of his type to look.”

“But he looks strange for a Cardassian.”

Garak shrugs. “Of course he does. So do you.”

Julian laughs a little and Tolan flails and tries to kick him in response to the sound and sudden movement. “It’s just – no, stop, stop, it’s okay, we’re done with the laughing now, we-“

“Do you want help with that?”

“I’ve got him, thank you.” Julian spends a few more seconds trying to hush and restrain Tolan until he calms down and returns to being quietly wary. “I just wondered if he looked different to you than he does to me. I think the pointed ears are adorable, but Mira…” He frowns thinking about Mira’s candid expression of her disapproval. “She said she thinks he looks broken.”

“Mira is a child. As we’ve discussed frequently, an overly dramatic and opinionated one, but a child regardless. You don’t need to worry about her. In the end, more years of her life will include Tolan than not, and they’ll be fine.”

Julian frowns. “So she’ll just ‘get used to him.’”

“Yes.”

“And what about you?”

“What about me?”

“Does he look broken to you?”

“No. He looks like him.” When Julian takes a breath to say something else, Garak stops him. “My dear, I live with a human, was quite good friends with a Bajoran hybrid, frequently had breakfast with a changeling, have conversed with Klingons, done business with more than a few Ferengi, and have had passing familiarity with the waist measurements of more species than I can recall the names of. I see nothing wrong with Tolan, just that he is what he is.”

The One Time

So there’s an addition to the Greetings From Cardassia Awkward Adventure up now. It’s not illustrated like the first part for a variety of reasons, but that might change.  It’s also not as separate an Awkward Adventure as the rest of them will be, so it’s just posted as a second chapter to the one already up.   

I didn’t know how else to treat a chunk of ‘Bonus Awkward’, so there you go, random sub-chapter.

I liked my first Human!Garak better, but he’ll do~

Julian will be written up and something like ‘illicit encounters are not to take place in closets, bathrooms, stock rooms, under counters or anywhere on the premises, why do I even need to tell you this, people.’ will have to be added to the employee guidelines.

In case you needed to see these larger.   I asked about humans, because Garak.  So now he’s a slightly skeevier than his Cardassian equivalent dude in a watermelon suit, I guess.

Based on what I am steadfastly calling Deep Dish Nine, which spawned sort of horrifically out of nowhere in this now steadily recurring post.
