Emergent Complexity: I have something to point out in ST fics

Smutty fics to be specific. There is precise detail to Vulcan penises but not Vulcan sex. In every M-rated fics I’ve read, Spock and Kirk always have sex like two humans would but I doubt it would actually be like that. I mean, Vulcans don’t kiss like humans - it’s much less...

This actually does get addressed in some of the TOS Star Trek novels. In “The Vulcan Academy Murders” (I think), a human male is wooed (and won) by a Vulcan female. When he kisses her for the first time, she doesn’t really get it. What she likes is to let their minds touch, just a little, by placing her first two fingers against his. It takes a bonding ceremony, connecting them telepathically, for her to really get what kissing means.

I do wish the show had done more with this. I’d love to see Kirk move in for the kiss, only for the kissee to jump back in revulsion and shout, “What the hell are you doing to my nose??”

My favourite Spock era. He’s been around, he’s seen some stuff, and he’s now fairly certain that he won’t crack in half if he cracks a smile. He’s no longer taking much shit from anybody. Nice to see.
