Rewatching TOS with Mr. Snip, and am realizing two things:
1. holy shit this is actually a really good show??
2. I ship Kirk x Enterprise so hard it hurrrrrts.

Just rewatched the TOS episode “Where no man has gone before”, and auuuugh, the second AOS movie should have been that, whyyyy wasn’t it thaaaaaaaat

I think those might have been the first Trek books I read, too! God, that is really, really weird. And then, like, The Entropy Effect. Why were all the first books I read the weird ones??
Seriously, though, TOS novels rule. I still have some. I’m rather partial to The Three-Minute Universe - with the Vinithi and how they offend every sense, and how one ends up being named Orangejuiceandwodka - and it’s hard to top How Much For Just the Planet? which once started a flame war on an echo I frequented -
God, and anything by Diane Duane, especially if it has K’t'lk in it - I love the Hamalki! My latest fic has one in it because of her! And oh, her Rihannsu stuff - I have another fic, a DD9 fic, that has a lovely Rihanha in it, and she’s going to speak Duane-Romulan because I like it much, much better than canon.
Oh, one disappointment, though… Uhura’s Song. It used to be one of my favourites, but God, I reread it last year… Imagine my surprise to discover it’s one big fat giant Mary Sue. /sigh/ Oh, Doctor Tailkinker To'Ennien, how can you betray me so? (Meanwhile, I hear Janet Kagan was super cool… but wow, this is fanfic, and lookit my cool OC~~~)
So there’s been this text post floating around describing how fabulous the Cardassian’s would look like had they been modeled in the 1960’s like the aliens of TOS. Of course being the procrastinator I am I decided to doodle this instead of doing the work I’ve been postponing for this whole weekend.
So one of my favourite things about the Cardassian’s is how there isn’t any huge variance in their armour when it comes to differentiating sexes so I wanted to keep that sentiment intact. I did add some scandalous sequence tunics though, but as you can see everyone has to wear them! The shoulders I took some influence in how the Cardassian disruptor is shaped, also I tried to adhere to the triangle/oval dynamics you see in a lot of Cardassian architecture .
And because this would have been done on such a low budget there would have been no visible neck ridges, instead they have fabulous flowing scarves! Also copious amounts of blue eyeshadow to go along with their drawn-on facial ridges…
