Also, oh my God, watching Cordelia work Miles is killing me. I mean, good for her… But oh, Lois, we know these people so well and your ability to have them press each other’s buttons Just So… It’s almost painful.

Reading the new Vorkosigan book. Enjoying the hell out of it.
But Cordelia… I mean, all right, you need not be buried beside Aral if you so desire…
but what about Bothari??
Weird Vorkosigan dreams last night. Highlights include Miles with an enormous bushy mustache, and Mark looking something like an evil Vir Cotto.
That said… damn, it was a great plot!

Okay, these are two of my favourite characters, and here is sort of why.
Let’s cast it as Garak and Bashir, because obvs.
So imagine Bashir and Garak are super-tight friends, and Garak is into Bashir, and Bashir is not into Garak. Canon, more or less.
Now imagine that they fall in love with sisters - again, more or less! - and marry the sisters, and the sisters are, like, Cardassian-Ferengi hybrids who are super pretty and super smart and have _super terrifying inlaws._
And also imagine that Bashir is from a ridiculously repressive culture (not quite so), as is Garak (very much so).
And then they each want to start a family. And they talk about it. And negotiate with the in-laws. And it’s all amazing world-building and Cardassian threats and Ferengi negotiations and steadfast Julian and wiggly Garak and
GOD, THIS IS PERFECT.
Except it’s not Julian and Garak, it’s Ivan and Byerly, and I haven’t had so much fun reading fic in recent memory~~~~

For all the Lois McMaster Bujold fans out there: a lovely four-part harmony song about Quaddies. Cleverly written, beautifully sung, and endorsed by Lois herself (who owns the album, as do I!).
cosmictuesdays, I think you’ll like this.
One to be a person, two to be a team,
Three to be a family and four to build a dream,
Got to find the future ‘cause that’s where we want to be,
Don’t know when we’ll get there but we’ll get there falling free.

Summary:
They say first times aren’t the greatest, but this is ridiculous! Which is worse? A girl that fetishizes your disability or an amoral woman who’s pretending to love you because she wants to take over your Empire? Another night in an ImpSec basement, another bottle of wine. As usual, Miles ignores the unspoken rules of the universe and demands a ‘do over.’ For the both of them.
