A Stitch in Time, by Garak Andrew J Robinson

One of my favorite Star Trek novels, A Stitch in Time delves into the life of spy tailor Elim Garak, recently repatriated on war-torn Cardassia.  Andrew J Robinson does a marvelous job of fleshing out an already fascinating character, most likely because he is in fact Elim Garak.

My favorite memory of this book came from Starfest ‘99 in Denver, CO, when Garak the author did a book reading.  Unfortunately, I was unable to get the book autographed, as it hadn’t been published yet.

A scene from Andrew Robinson’s A Stitch In Time: young Garak finds a regnar and evades capture by the older students. This was so vivid an image in my head that it prevented me from sleeping for two nights running (until I broke down and painted it).
