…Oh dear. I have a couple of friends who are pretty heavily invested in this series. I wonder if there’s a way of warning them without spoiling them, because this sounds kind of awful.
For those who wish to remain totally unaware, discussion under the cut–
First I read your review of my update, then your tags in the reblog, then this. I stg you’re going to kill me with beaming and blushing. <333
Oh, dear! I don’t want to kill you. Just mostly kill you. I’ve got to leave some little vestige of life in you if I want to squeeze more fic out in future, right? And I do, I do want you to squeeze out more fic~!
Hey you. <3 I've been going over your Kardasi document, and it's absolutely fantastic. I just have one question: Where would the syllable stress fall in Kardasi? Is there any syllable stress? Has anybody discussed this and I just missed it?
I… have no idea!
Mmm. Usually not on the prefix. Often on the suffix. “visf’I” would be “veesf’EYE”.
And from there… I don’t know if there is a rule? Perhaps I should just go through and capitalize where it feels like the stress should be…?
You tell me, you know more about this. Are there rules?
***
Revised–you know what, that bit about the suffix isn’t even true, because as I pronounce it in my head, it’s “VEESF'eye,” falling gently off…!
Maybe it’s a bit like Japanese? Just kind of flows?
Okay, this is fascinating. Also it doesn’t matter to me if you make it up (which is really goddamn cool by the way), you follow those grammar rules and that alone is enough for me to find amazing.
God, and it’s brutal, takes me half an hour to conjugate a sentence–
But then suddenly it clicks, and it’s like, oh, myself comprehend'in present–sentence proper-way arranged'must be'in present–this not-difficult is'in present!
It’s still not quite right. The grammar rules proposed by galileoace do different things with, like, subordinate clauses. And I can’t quite figure them out. But all things in their time.
My admiration for your abilities with that language knows no bounds.
psssssst i make it all up tho~~~
Although, of course, as one of the merry crew of the good ship U. S. S. Take It Too Seriously, I go through this big process…
Like, huh, okay, I need a word that means “beautiful.”
First of all: is there one already? (scans two main references; nope; scans own vocab file; nope)
Okay. Well, what is something beautiful to a Cardassian?
Cardassians like tamed nature. Cardassians like straight lines and smooth curves. Cardassians like perfectly arranged hair and taut tailoring with no dangly bits.
So beauty would be something that tames the thoughts, that makes one’s mind flow in a pleasing way.
Okay: “mind-taming” = beautiful.
Now, do I have a word for “mind”…?
On it goes~~~
One of these days I will post my vocab file for giggles. It’s a beast.
I’m an apprentice tattoo artist. An artist who owns a few shops invited me to their team.
I’ve got a long way to go. I’m still learning basic shading techniques. Working with a tattoo pen adds depth to the traditional flat plane I’m used to working on.
One is never too old to learn a new skill.
At times I feel like a complete newb.
So, here is a meme that I love. I’m sharing it for everyone who is learning something new.
