If you’ve ever been a victim of social exclusion/bullying (or a perpetrator) - heck, even if you aren’t I would encourage you to read this. It explains so much about the way girls - and women to some extent behave.
The author does mainly focus on white middle class girls, but she also does discuss poorer girls and girls of color - and how their responses are different bc of differing socialization to what women’s roles are supposed to be.
She discusses most of her findings in light of how western society expects women to behave - and critiques that heavily.
