ds9 - “the reckoning”

okay i’m only halfway through, and things haven’t started to go cray yet–

but i am completely on winn’s side here??

perhaps it’s avery brooks’s decision to play sisko’s confontations with her in this episode as if he’s a small boy with his hand in the cookie jar, but really, he hasn’t got a leg to stand on and he’s being petulant about it.

put the fricking thing back where you found it, which really you should never have taken it away what the frick, shades of cardassia, “i’ll give it back when i’m done with it” gee really??? thanks!!! clearly the bajorans are in totally good hands then, seeing as how you have no idea what you’re doing and are completely disinclined to work with the scientists/scholars who’ve spent their lives studying the wormhole aliens/prophets, instead giving the sacred artifact to your science bff who is like guy i can’t with this very much, like, i am kind of irritated here, is what i’m saying.

bad emissary. bad. doesn’t your duty to the prophets encompass some kind of duty to bajor too? do you think you could at least try to work with them? despite the fact that winn is “hard to like”?

sheesh.

ds9 tinsnip rambles bajor kai winn i didn't realize i was quite that upset actually oh well time for shenanigans i'm sure

“Of Bajor” AO3 Collection

cosmic-llin

So, I made a collection on AO3 for fanworks about Bajor and being Bajoran, it’s HERE.

There’s only my fanworks in the main collection so far because I can only add things that are submitted, but I’ve also put some of my favourites in the bookmarks!

Please feel free to submit your own fanworks about Bajor! (Also I think you can add bookmarks of someone else’s work even if you’re not me, but I’m not sure, someone try it!)

(Also, if you’d like me to remove bookmarks of your work, just let me know, that’s fine too!)

Wow, the Bajorans are super racist… Every time there’s a Cardassian or someone who aided the Cardassians back in the day, Kira and the other Bajorans are so quick to throw them under the bus. EVERY. FUCKING. TIME.

I understand that they have plenty of reasons to fear the Cardassians, but there...

In fairness, you can kind of see where Bajor’s coming from - and the Cardassians aren’t exactly shining examples of tolerance and loving kindness themselves. Garak is adorable, but he’s a big dick where Bajorans are concerned. He thinks the Cardassian occupation should be thought of as something that had positive effects on both societies, and that Bajorans are naturally more servile than Cardassians.

Everybody’s got to headcanon the Occupation/War so that they can sleep at night. It will take time.

Now we’re talking classic Star Trek cooking. Hasperat is, of course, that well-known Bajoran dish which is said to be spicy enough to make your eyes water. It is mentioned several times in both Next Generation and Deep Space Nine and seems to be a loved Bajoran dish. Apparently the key to strong…

Hasperat has always sounded so goddamned delicious. Of course it’s kimchi! But I always kind of thought it would have an element of spinach to it, too…
