Yes, indeed! This particular piece was inspired by Bastille’s Pompeii. The lyrics, the echoing choral voices, the relentless drums… it seemed very post-canon Cardassia to me, and the story grew quite organically from there.

I think you’re right–I think it was supposed to be that he’d been tricked into entering the Vinculum in order to dispose of him without killing him. When he awoke, he was years older.

I think you’re also right about needing to see The Dream Box to really get what’s going on. Oh, well. Maybe one day someone who’s seen it, in one of its myriad variations, will hear our questioning howls and describe it for us more fully!
