Something worth knitting?

Okay, so, I’m just now learning to knit. I can knit, purl, rib, cast on, and bind off. I’m making a scarf. It’s fine.

What else can I do? 

Every pattern I see is like ugly scarf or hinky-looking hat or old-lady sweater, and it’s like, why am I learning to do this if everything I can make is ugly?

Please recommend me some cool, funky, fun-to-look-at patterns that will give me motivation to get good enough to make them!
