So my current background brain obsession, when it is not orphans and/or drenching my sketchbook in blood, is how I am going to attend both Gallifrey One - which I’m already good to go for, mostly (EMAIL ME BACK, ART TABLE PEOPLE, HOLY FUCK) - and Star Trek Las Vegas.

I usually do some kind of...

I made these at work today - put paint on them now, but still - because we ran out of things to do.   So, when all things were considered, I couldn’t draw my usual half-naked girls covered in blood and killing people, so I drew half of my Cardassian ex-orphan brigade.

I tried to get something like an image of each of them to work from, or notes to keep in mind, or something like that.  Mira’s in particular looks like some sort of highschool senior photo.   She’s not quite as elegant as the one from the other day yet.

Also find myself ridiculously in love with Tolan and am convinced Romulans and Cardassians should just invest in making more children that look like this.

Chel and ????? will be getting this treatment as well.  I just don’t know when yet!

How old are they in these pictures?

orphan time strikes back~   boy i wish there was a read more option for photos and that i knew how to fucking use it

More of this, because. There was going to be an elaborate reason here, but the reason is I do what I want.

SO.

Let’s talk about these damn kids. fuck me this is another page with no appreciable Garak, i’m sorry these drawings must make him look like such a victim of Julian’s compassion
i swear this not my intent

Okay, for real this time.

The top is older!Mira and Tolan. I thought a lot about the kind of people they’d end up being later in life. Ideally, I’d do whole drawings of them so you could see their style or their postures and shit, but as I was saying in the huge comment section of the first orphan time collection, I think these kids are going to be absolutely unstoppable, given the stuff they are going to learn from their parents, particularly Mira, given what kind of person she is.

Mira ends up with a ‘taking absolutely zero of your shit’ personality, and she’s got polite in the face of ‘i really hate you’ down to a science. As a little girl she was really dramatic and super diva-esque, and this is not gone, but it’s controlled and used to an extreme advantage when she’s older. She can stir up shit and manipulate people very well. Fantastic liar, but uses her lies carefully. She enjoys clothes and hair styles and is sort of stereotypically ‘feminine’ in her style choices and in the way she presents herself. She likes science, particularly chemistry for its explosive qualities, tedious embroidery, and music.

Tolan does a lot of the same ‘polite in the face of i hate you’ that Mira does. He spends more time watching people than manipulating them, mostly because he’d rather learn from people than bend them to his will or whatever. Tolan is the Romulan/Cardassian equivalent of ‘really loves people, but hates humanity’ in that he cares a nearly-empathetic amount about individual people he meets and knows, but does not trust people as a collective in general. Meeting someone is usually an event that takes two or three exposures to really sink in for him, because he’ll need to spend the first meeting just absorbing how a new person acts and whether he thinks they’re trustworthy. Tolan likes trying tons of alien food, psychology, and big quiet spaces.

Both kids employ lots of sarcasm for one reason or another - Mira more to make other people laugh or subtly insult them, Tolan more as a defense mechanism. PLUS A BUNCH OF OTHER STUFF, I’M SURE, but this is what I’ve thought about so far.

AND THEN THE TWINS. Who look a little homicidal, and who can blame them at this stage.

That’s Chel breaking crayons, and her brother who still has no name~ Chel had longer hair when she showed up at the ‘orphanage’, but after initial trauma, she and her brother chopped it all off to match his. They won’t let anyone near their hair, so they’re a little ratty looking.

Chel keeps her short hair anyway. She also wears the clothes given to her brother, rather than any of the provided dresses and skirts her caretakers try to give her. When not wrecking absolutely everything she touches, she does like art despite her treatment of those crayons.

Her brother likes stories - reading them, making them up. He sees them sharing a hair cut and clothes as a sign of solidarity, so he is not bothered in the slightest by having half the clothing the other kids have.

Both kids are prone to acting out wild fantasies while trying to burn the orphanage down - usually they’re magical ancient priests in charge of some kind of cult. It’s very ‘fly my pretties~’ Also both a little afraid of heights and unfinished buildings, since their biological parents died in a construction accident while they were trying to help rebuild some homes in their sector.

In one set of doodles, Chel is in the middle of grilling Mira and Tolan about their parents. She was supposed to asking a bunch of very proper and serious questions that the caretakers suggested, but she went right to the heart of the matter, clearly. It looks a little selfish, but Chel figures she can tell if these kids’ parents actually like them if they gave them things that they really wanted. This is probably a lot more effective than the questions the caretakers suggested.

The other bit is the Julian section, apparently. First is him with Boy!Twin, after giving him a gift of some sort. Boy is pretty stoked about presents, but needs to let Julian know he has not won yet. The one underneath that is  slightly wonky looking Julian and Chel, after she goes home with them and someone brushes the poor kid’s hair.

Annnnd the lone appearance of Garak in this disaster is part of the middle name conversation from the last giant comment spew.
