I deem all of the Odo/Kira a bit bad. Not because I don’t like the pairing (I actually realised that I actually OT3 Quark/Odo/Kira, on re-watching) but because Odo was literally inceptioned into Kira. Remember when he actually first time thought about her in this way? Yeah, the time she used him as a shield from unwanted chaser. She incepted him the idea of being intimate with her. She didn’t understand that he is no ordinary man for that thing who just shrug it off. He had no concept of being intimate so he was a blank canvas. In those moments when he didn’t understand what she was doing (and he didn’t!) he actually fully submerged in it. And he couldn’t shrug it off later. I think it was very bleh because I actually know how it feels. And it’s not fair. And it’s not his actual feelings. He was content with friendship, he is non-binary and asexual because changelings don’t procreate this way. But she drowned him in the image and he couldn’t shrug it off because it is what he do - he tries to be solid and he think it’s the requirement. Argh.
And that changeling who did this to him here? Most illogical. I think as later it was confirmed they also were struggling with their own identification problems - the fact they adopted “female” look just like his (both were very unnecessary), the fact they were jealous of Kira here and the fact they actually had humanoid sex with Odo later. I think they have issues. I wonder what inceptioned them into it. I want their background, their past. Who told you it’s better to be solid and most of all to have sex (in both senses of the word)? Or it was writers who invented a species that doesn’t propagate like us but couldn’t imagine it?
