About half of The Crimson Shadow is Garak writing letters to Julian and not sending them.

and about half of the time that I wanted to throw my kindle while reading this was because Garak wasn’t sending/deleting messages he wrote for Bashir

• #ok so I have this horrible theory/headcanon/whatever
• #that I hate as a G/B person
• #but it makes SENSE and it's horrible
• #but I feel like The Crimson Shadow has a subplot of Garak kind of getting over Bashir in a way
• #(WHICH FREAKING SUCKS)
• #BUT
• #so the letters he writes to julian during these change as the story progresses- particularly in the way that he refers to Julian
• #we start with 'my dear doctor' to 'my dear julian' to 'julian' to then no dear anyone at all
• #(which is more similar to the messages that Parmak sends him)
• #and somewhere inbetween the 'julian' to no name at all Garak just stops sending the messages
• #and then he even starts deleting them so he doesn't even have record of them
• #so it's like his letters are getting more intimate when he needs comfort or whatever and then julian proceeds to just nOT REPLY EVER
• #and THEN
• #after all the shit goes down he says he needs HIS doctor
• #Doctor Kelas Parmak
• #the one who HAS been there for him this entire time
• #with kisses and hand holding and literary debate and kanar and kotra before bed
• #his conscious
• #and the last letter to bashir starts like they did in the beginning of the book
• #with 'my dear doctor'
• #just like how he refered to him back during his exile on ds9
• #we see garak say that he loves parmak
• #and THEN julian replies
• #anD GOD I HATE THIS BOOK
• #BUT I LOVE THIS BOOK
• #DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW MUCH OF A GARAKBASHIR PERSON I AM
• #DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA
• #BUT I'M ALSO WAY PRO-GARAK BEING HAPPY
