Not A Drill
But this is Una McCormack writing Garashir~~~~~
i am just awash now, i just want to find una mccormack at a fan convention and sit her down and just look at her and ask her things. i want to hear how she builds her cardassia. i want to hear about the greenery and the language. i want to hear about the sand storms, my god, the storms, and how everyone must carry their mask. i want to hear about levels of schooling and about the eight separate history channels on the rolling news. i want i want i want.
we are awfully lucky to have her.
how does she DO that? how does she create her world such that when i look up, i am surprised to see green?
i expected stone and sand.
how does she DO that???
aaaawaaaaauuauaaaaaaaulgh
PREORDER: The DS9 saga continues this June, in ENIGMA TALES by Una McCormack.
Like, it took me TWO SECONDS to buy this.
I was quite a bad sociologist, professionally speaking. I was more interested in made-up societies than anything going on around me… My interest in science fiction and the kinds of questions it can pose is what made me think sociology was a good fit for me, like: What is the relationship between the individual and her society? How is a person shaped, formed, or constrained by their social context? What strategies do the marginalized have at their disposal to enable them to live good lives?
(today i was reliably informed that una mccormack asked someone awesome if they knew me, like, ‘oh, do you know tinsnip?’, and that knowledge alone may suffice as nourishment for days~~~)
Something weird just happened in this book. There was clearly a chunk cut out, because suddenly everyone knows something I didn’t–it’s never explained, I checked–and now Crusher is ranting about the Romani.
Hmmm.
Things I like about “The Missing” #2:
Odo and Ro Laren trying to Cardassian Politics.
It’s like two very careful bulls in a china shop. :3
