Garak - Deep Space Nine
I was knitting a Christmas present, when this adorable Deep Dish 9 headcanon popped into my thoughts. Take it or leave it. So:
Whet if the one thing DD9!Garak never got around to learning was how to knit. And what if DD9!Julian learned how to knit AGES ago, because that’s what undergrads do, and he keeps it up to practice his fine motor skills for med school, but he’s never gone beyond the basic scarf, so he’s got all these mismatched slightly-lumpy-from-undergrad and boring-but-nicely-crafted-from-med-school ridiculous scarves lying around, which he sometimes still wears. And somehow Garak finds out that all these hideous scarves were actually MADE by Julian, and somehow Julian finds out that Garak CAN’T KNIT. And Julian teases Garak for not knowing something, and Garak somehow cajoles Julian into teaching him, and their presents to each other that year for Christmas are a warm, soft, aesthetically acceptable (if not pleasing) scarf from Julian to Garak, and, to Julian, Garak’s first, lumpy, awful, pathetic scarf (but in a fantastic color which compliments Julian’s eyes, of course). And they’re just so happy because each gift was made, given and received with love.
Goodness, how cute would that be. Someone who is not me should write this story.
